Is the Hycross worth the extra over a Crysta?
For many trips, yes. The Hycross is the newest Innova, built on a different platform from the Crysta. In practice that means three things you will notice:
- A quieter cabin. The petrol and hybrid engines are far smoother than a diesel, which makes it easy to take calls or rest.
- More room in the second and third rows, with a flatter floor so the middle passenger is not perched on a hump.
- A newer car feel. Modern infotainment, ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof on top variants.
The trade-off is cost: ₹5,000 for 8 hours against ₹4,400 for a Crysta, and ₹35 per km outstation against ₹25. We usually suggest a Hycross for corporate guests, clients from abroad and city days with lots of stop-start traffic, and a Crysta for long highway trips on a budget.
Hycross or Hycross Hybrid?
The Hycross Hybrid pairs the petrol engine with an electric motor. In Chennai traffic it often moves on electric power alone, so it is almost silent and very smooth. It costs ₹6,000 for 8 hours/80 km, ₹650 per extra hour and ₹40 per km outstation.
The standard Hycross is the better value for highway trips, where the hybrid's advantage is smaller.
